Sales Robots
I remember when a phone call from your local fire department to raise money was an occasional interruption to life around the dinner hour. You could either respond yes or no and they would then leave you alone. Those were the days of civility and mutual respect that have been taken over by humans hiding behind bots to do their dirty work. I do not think this is a beneficial change in any capacity. In fact, I think it is extremely harmful, irresponsible, and meets the legal definition of harassment if we had a legal system that was even remotely interested in those things. But I digress.
Somehow, I was put on a contacts list for those who are marketing pre-approved business loans of UP TO $349,000!!! This, despite the fact that I do not own a business. I have tried everything to stop their persistent daily interference in my life to no effect. I have blocked the numbers they text AND call from – because why not do both to really annoy someone into a rage? I have picked up the phone and very kindly asked to be removed from their list only for them to promptly hang up and try again in a few hours. I have had at least 50 voicemails offering me pre-approval for UP TO $349,000!!!! In the past month alone. Yesterday, I was able to actually speak with a reasonable person by picking up the phone and once again appealing to her basic humanity and expressing my deep confusion about why she would want to give me money for a business I do not have and how could I please, please, please stop the madness, she agreed to put me on a do-not-call list. I have not received a call or text as of midday today and although I am writing this on a Sunday afternoon, they have historically persisted even in this time frame. So far, nothing! Dare I consider that my dream of never getting up to $349,000 from them be granted? I shall hope for a time when I didn’t realize how blessed I was to not have these daily intrusions into my peace to return with equal persistence.
This is not a one-off situation for most of us. I am routinely bombarded by political message from all parties, offers to donate to organizations to which I already donate, requests for money from entities I have never heard of, and people wanting to buy my property that they heard I was selling. Um, no I don’t know where you heard that completely false piece of information you fake overstepping annoying human bot or bot bot created and distributed by an annoying human. I don’t want to connect with any of you. Does this strategy work on anyone? Or is the plan to just pester people until they bend to your perverse whims? I have three times as many blocked phone numbers than I do real phone numbers of people I connect with - and that is a six figure number (ha!). I don’t get it at all. What is the point other than to annoy people by interrupting their lives with your personal bullshit.
Sales robots are a plague that do not benefit anyone and just … STOP! Stop robots, human bots, humans who deploy bots, AI bots, and anything designed to flea us to death by design. You are not good people and karma is going to move you into an underground holding area full of wasp nests. Save yourselves!
